BACK TO SCHOOL: HOW TO HELP YOUR PET ADJUST

Ark Crew • Aug 15, 2019

Summer is over, and your kids aren’t the only ones who wish it were longer. Your pets have adjusted to spending more time with your family, going on outdoor adventures and getting lots of attention. So before you cram your calendar full of new activities, consider ways you can help your pet ease into the new school year.

GIVE YOUR DOG A DAY OUT

Let’s face it - your dog’s ideal day is not sitting at home alone. Treat your dog to a day of play with furry friends at our doggie daycare. Our daycare packages not only help your budget, but help your dog consistently stay active and practice socialization skills.

KEEP YOUR DOG BUSY

Surprise your pup with new special toy or treat. When choosing a new toy, opt for something durable like a Kong, rather than a plush or plastic toy. If your dog is a chewer, never leave them unsupervised with an easily destructible toy.

DON’T FORGET TO EXERCISE

All dogs need exercise, though the amount of needed exercise depends on breed, age and health. Take a walk around the neighborhood, visit the dog park or toss a frisbee in the backyard. If you have your own workout routine, try these 7 moves you can do with your dog.

The key to transitioning your dog to a new schedule is balancing your pet’s time spent alone and time spent with people and other pets. Bringing your dog to doggie daycare even a few days per week could drastically help your pet maintain a healthy level of physical and mental activity. Plus you won’t feel that all too familiar feeling of guilt on your way out the door every morning.
