HOMEMADE DOG ICE CREAM

AND FROZEN TREATS

In honor of Summer officially starting tomorrow what better topic to talk about today then ice cream and frozen treats to keep your dog cool this summer! Read on below for some homemade goodness that you and your pup can enjoy. These healthy treats will have your dog begging for more!

STRAWBERRY AND BANANA ICE CREAM

ITEMS NEEDED

  • 4 cups of non-fat, natural plain yogurt
  • 1 Banana
  • 1 Punnet of Strawberries
  • Honey

STEP ONE: Mash the strawberries and bananas

STEP TWO: Mix with the yogurt and some honey to taste

STEP THREE: Pour into a container and freeze overnight and thats it! Your ice cream treat is ready for your dog to enjoy and good enough for you to eat with them as well!

This recipe is easy enough to change out the ingredients. Try other fruit that you know your dog likes but be sure to check and make sure they are dog friendly. Always remember its good to stay clean of chocolate or macadamia nuts, as they can be toxic to your dog.

FROZEN PEANUT BUTTER AND YOGURT TREATS

ITEMS NEEDED

  • Plain Greek Yogurt
  • Natural Peanut Butter
  • Ice Tray

STEP ONE: Melt the peanut butter enough to where you can easily spoon a little bit into the bottom of each ice cube. It should settle right into the mold.

NOTE: You don't need to much peanut butter, it's more to add a touch of flavor with the yogurt.

STEP TWO: Spoon some yogurt on top of the peanut butter and press it in so that it fills the remaining space of the mold.

TIP: You may want to bang the tray on the counter a few times to make sure you don't have any air pockets. Once its full, take the back of the spoon or a butter knife to level it off flat across the top.

STEP THREE: Place the ice tray in the freezer and let them freeze over night. Once frozen, pop them out and serve.

If the frozen treats appear to cold for your dog, you can always pop them into a kong toy for them to lick as the treat melts.
