A QUICK RECAP OF THE NEW ANIMAL CRUELTY LAW

Ark Crew • Dec 04, 2019

“[Animals] aren’t property, they’re part of the family. They have thoughts, feelings, emotions...and our laws need to reflect that,” said Assistant District Attorney Elaine Cuthbertson in a statement to USA Today in Nashville, Tennessee.

Our crew is pleased to hear the latest news surrounding animal cruelty laws. In case you’re out of the loop, the federal government has made strides towards preventing acts of violence towards animals. As of November 25th, animal cruelty has been determined a federal crime, along with creating and distributing videos or photos of similar acts.

Every state holds their own laws to respond to animal cruelty crimes, but the recently passed PACT Act helps pursue animal cruelty cases that fall outside state jurisdiction and cross state lines. These crimes could result in serious fines and prison sentences up to seven years. President Donald Trump finally signed the new law with the support of countless others, including the Humane Society Legislative Fund.

Here at the Ark Pet Spa & Hotel, we believe that all animals deserve to be treated respectfully and lovingly. Our mission is to provide a safe, fun and loving environment for each pet who walks, crawls, slithers or flies through our doors. Whether your pet is in doggy daycare, boarding or grooming, you can have total peace of mind knowing that your furry friend is in safe hands.
